Youth Symphony Orchestra

The QUAD CITY YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (YSO) was founded in 1958 as a training ensemble for middle, junior high and high school-aged musicians. It is comprised of 96 accomplished instrumentalists drawn from 22 school districts. It is the most advanced of four performance ensembles offered by the Quad City Symphony.

Each year, the orchestra performs two concerts and features soloists chosen from within the YSO. In addition, the YSO performs at Symphony Day - a series of music education concerts at the Adler Theatre for over 6,000 elementary school children.

More than $17,000 in scholarships is awarded to students of the Quad City Youth Symphony Orchestra. The YSO rehearses every Sunday evening throughout the school year August through April.
