QUAD CITY SYMPHONY YOUTH ENSEMBLES
Benjamin Klemme, Music Director

The Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles (QCSYEs) program has five performance groups (four youth orchestras and a youth choir) for students in grades two through twelve.  Under the direction of the QCSYEs outstanding conducting staff, members have the opportunity to perform great orchestral and choral repertoire with the most talented young musicians in the area, learn from coaching sessions with professional QCSO musicians, and rehearse under QCSO director Mark Russell Smith.  Ensemble members come from the greater Quad Cities, as well as other communities in southeast Iowa and northwest Illinois.

YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Benjamin Klemme, conductor
Rehearses Sundays from 6:00-8:30 p.m. in the Ensemble Room at Augustana College

The Youth Symphony Orchestra (YSO) was founded in 1958 as a training ensemble for school-aged musicians.  YSO, a full symphony orchestra comprised of nearly 100 members, is now the most advanced of the four QCSYE orchestras.  Students perform several times throughout the year in a variety of rewarding performance settings, including a Side-by-Side concert with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Mark Russell Smith.  YSO is primarily intended to serve students in grades nine through twelve.

YOUTH PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Benjamin Klemme, conductor
Rehearses Sundays from 3:00-5:30 p.m. in the Ensemble Room at Augustana College

The Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO) is an intermediate full orchestra that aims to prepare its members for musical participation in the Youth Symphony Orchestra.  Students experience playing in a full orchestra with strings, winds, and percussion and original repertoire, as well as arrangements of great orchestral masterpieces.  YPO is primarily intended to serve students in grades six through eleven.

YOUTH STRING ENSEMBLE
Michele Ottesen, conductor
Rehearses Thursdays from 5:30-7:15 p.m. at First Congregational Church (2201 7th Avenue, Moline)

Rehearses Thursdays from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church (2201 7th Avenue, Moline)

Youth String Ensemble (YSE) and Prelude Strings (PS) are introductory ensembles for young string musicians. Through participation in these orchestras, students improve individual playing technique, develop ensemble skills, and gain valuable performance experience.  YSE is primarily intended to serve students in grades five through ten, PS grades four through eight.

YOUTH CHOIR
Mary Tallitsch, conductor
Rehearses Thursdays from 5:45-7:45 p.m. at First Congregational Church (2201 7th Avenue, Moline)

Youth Choir (YC) is an exciting performance opportunity open to students with unchanged voices who are in grades two through twelve.  Members must have an unchanged voice, be able to match pitch, and sing well in tune with others.  Participants improve individual vocal technique, develop ensemble skills, and gain valuable performance experience in a variety of rewarding performance settings, including participation in the QCSO's annual Holiday Pops concerts.
