String Ensemble

The YOUTH STRING ENSEMBLE, directed by Dortha DeWit, was begun in 1990 for string players who may not yet have the experience and technical proficiency to perform the full orchestral repertoire of the advanced groups. It is a longer season than the Prelude Strings and gives students more advanced music than they may otherwise play. The String Ensemble rehearses one night a week October through February and presents one concert in the spring as well as a community concert. It is a great stepping stone on the path to performing with the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra or the Youth Symphony Orchestra.
