Listening Olympics

This year the competition will be held on
Friday, April 18, 2008
4 PM
Asbury United Methodist Church

LISTENING OLYMPICS is a fun and interactive competition, designed in a "spelling bee" format, that tests fifth grade students' knowledge of classical music elements, including titles, composers, families of instruments and style. Student participants study music examples and answer questions like: "Who is the composer?" or "Is this music from the classical or romantic period?"

This innovative program, now in its eighth season, is designed to strengthen listening skills and teamwork. The QCSO distributes extensive prepatory classroom materials to regional music teachers. Winning teams are presented at the Quad City Youth Symphony Orchestra's Spring Concert.

All programs are offered at no cost to participants. Funding for the Quad City Symphony Orchestra's music education programs is provided by Volunteers for Symphony by area funding agencies and the corporate sector.
